Campus security and safety is an important feature of postsecondary education. The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) is committed to assisting colleges in providing students across the state a safe environment in which to learn and to keep students, family members and employees well informed about campus security. These goals were advanced by the Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 (now known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act). The SBCTC is committed to assisting postsecondary institutions by providing information and guidance, and promoting full compliance with Federal and State laws regarding safety and security in higher education.
Campus Safety and Security Information and Crime Statistics
- WACLEA, the Western Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, is a non-profit campus police and security association which operates in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, Alaska, and British Columbia, Canada. We work closely with the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and other law enforcement organizations.
- The Clery Center for Security on Campus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing violence, substance abuse and other crimes on college and university campuses.
