CHRISTOPHER SORAN: All right. Let's go ahead and get rolling. Welcome, everybody. Thanks for joining us today, the ctcLink Accessibility Forum for November 12th. I'm Christopher Soran, the application support manager, here presenting with Monica and Josh today. MONICA OLSSON: Hi, everyone. Good morning. This is Monica from the State Board. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Morning, everybody. So it seems we don't have our captioner with us this morning. So sorry about that. We had them scheduled to come, but since they're not here. So we're going to go ahead and use the default Zoom auto-captioning. All right. Thanks, everybody. So we're going to talk about an overview of the whole year, kind of updates have come in with the different PeopleSoft images, as well as the FS 50, CS 32, and the latest HCX upgrade. So back in April, we deployed PeopleTools 85921. There was like one fix in there. There's a couple with the PRP earlier this year. There was a few that came in with HCM 49. There was a few that came in with FS 50. But the biggest chunk has been with the Campus Solutions Image 32. There's 55 accessibility fixes that came in with that one. A lot of student side fixes, as well as some staff side fixes. That's the biggest one I've seen to date with most fixes coming in. So it's cool to see that much come in in Campus Solutions, all these fixes for students, as well as fixes within the HighPoint Campus Solutions or HCS. So yeah. We're just going to keep submitting those tickets, keep working with those vendors. Make sure they're staying WCAG 2.1 AA compliant. MONICA OLSSON: Chris, this is Monica. I believe our captioner has entered the room. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: All right. MONICA OLSSON: Ariana is here. It says Captioner comma Ariana. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: All right. MONICA OLSSON: Stand by, everybody. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Sweet. Were you able to assign the caption role to Ariana? MONICA OLSSON: Working on it. Sorry. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: You're good. I'll keep rolling. MONICA OLSSON: OK, yeah. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Yeah. So in October, and then late October, early November, we brought in Finance Image 50, Campus Solutions Image 32, and HCX 24.2.1. So all those updates have come very recently. So we'll go ahead and start with showing off the Finance Image 50 accessibility overview document. Let me go ahead and pull that out. All right. So on the fluid approvals page, the sort options didn't work correctly when you're in screen reader mode before. And there was a messaging prompting for you to click OK to change the sort option or cancel it. That wasn't previously read by the screen reader. So now, that reads it, as well as that view detail hyperlink on the right side. It contains details that were read by the screen reader that weren't read before. Previously, it just said message not found. So that's fixed now, which is good. So now, you can more easily sort and read the details of all the items on this page. So another thing was on the Finalize and Print Invoices page, that the process just ran and no success when you were in the screen reader mode. It just didn't work, which is fixed now. So that's good. Now you can finalize and print invoices. On the My Delegates tile, that threw a big, nasty error message when you tried to open the page up when you're in the screen reader mode. And now that error message has gone away, you can pull up the My Delegates. In the Employee Self-Service in Finance, and if you go to Delegations and you create a delegation request, on one of the-- So previously, it said message not found when you're on the second step, when you're on the proxy step. There was a screenshot of the header or above the table there. It just said message not found. Now it says photo. So that was certainly confusing. I don't know what that column was. And then as well as in travel and expenses area on the update employee detail page, the tab order was incorrect. So you couldn't access all the fields in the correct order to update an employee. So now, everything's in the right order, and you can access it all. All right. So next up, we're going to talk about the staff side changes for Campus Solutions Image 32. I'm going to go ahead and turn that over to Josh. JOSH GIHA: Good morning, everyone. Can you hear me? All right. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Yes. Good to go. Thanks, Josh. JOSH GIHA: Cool, cool. Under Student Services Center-- can you scroll up a little bit? OK. All right. Under Campus Community, Service Indicators, Person, and then Manage Service Indicator. They modified the tab order of the fields on the page, appropriately, so it complies with the guidelines before the tab order was slightly off. So they've addressed that and made sure that the tab order goes as expected. Moving on to the next issue. This was, I believe, affected mostly JAWS. If we can go back up a little bit, a little bit higher. Perfect. Under Set Up SACR, Common Definitions, Self Service, Student Records. And then there are tabs on this page if you go to the other tab. And then you tab through the page. You reach a field called Edit Search Against and Display Textbook Summary Link if we scroll down a little bit. So this is a screenshot of that page. And what is highlighted in green is two fields that were not accessible by keyboard. So as a person is using a keyboard only, they would get mostly down the page down to Faculty Search. And then there would be another field called Textbook Information. And we're going to have two checkboxes in it that were not accessible by keyboard. So that has been fixed. Moving on to the next one. Under Student Financials Account, or actually, under Records and Enrollment, Enroll Students, Block Enrollment, and Block Enroll Merge. To replicate this issue, if you were to click Add a New Value, under Class Block, click the Detail Create Link and then use the tab key until you reach the class number prompt. We're finding that class number field was labeled incorrectly. So it would not read to the screen reader what it was being read out visually. So that has been addressed and fixed. Under Records and Enrollment, Term Processing, Class Permissions, Class permissions to Add tab. This is another page where there's tabs. And if you were to go to the permission to add tab and search for and select a class, then click Generate Add Permissions. There was a table that had its headers incorrectly labeled. So that has been updated. Moving on. Under Curriculum Management, Schedule of Classes, the Class Search. There were incorrect header or headings. So there's H1 and H2 that were incorrectly labeled. And so they've addressed the structure for that, and it now matches what it's supposed to. Class Search is heading 1, and Search for Classes is heading 2. Under Campus Community, Communications, 3C Engine Trigger results, they've updated the level 2 heading label on that page as well, as well as the Student Career Number field label. Under Common Definitions, Self Service, Involvement, you need to replicate this issue, and you enter institution. Next, click Search, and then click on the Web Campaigns tab, and click on Narrative Link. There is a text editor on that page that had a title for the page labeled incorrectly, or it read additional text that was not visible on the page. So they fixed the page title to be web campaign narrative. Under Curriculum Management, Fluid Class Search, Class Search Index Manager. This was another heading label update, as well as a field label update. Under Campus Finances, Accept/Decline Awards. If you select a year and inspect the table, we're finding that the table headers or the column headers did not match what was being read out to the screen reader. So they've updated those. And that is it for the staff-facing bug fixes for CS 32. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Thanks, Josh. To remind everybody, the last session, we went over all the student side fixes. So this is all the staff side fixes. We also have the HCX update. Thanks, Josh. JOSH GIHA: Yes. And so this is the update that we've been talking about and waiting for for the past year or so. This is the result of all the hard work that the Perkins Institute did for HighPoint here. The Perkins School for the Blind went through and tested HighPoint's HCX. And since that testing was done, HighPoint released several updates to address the findings that they brought forth. And this version of HighPoint includes all of the fixes that had been suggested and worked on over the past year. So this is the most accessible version of HCX to date, and we're very excited about it. Unfortunately, HighPoint didn't release as much details with the bug fixes as, say, Campus Solution did with theirs. But there are a lot of comprehensive fixes that addressed multiple pages. Like for example, this first fix affects the dashboard, and they updated several components, including accordions, tables, date pickers, forms, definition lists, tabs, and links. If anybody is familiar with web development, and if you scroll back up a little bit, the calendar date pickers are usually one of the, I guess, components or web components that tend to have the most variations across the web, and a lot of them tend to be inaccessible. They've updated their date picker. It is now accessible and works really well with screen readers and the keyboard. This next screenshot is a visual example of an accordion that they've updated. The next page, the next screenshot is an example of the dropboxes. They've updated fonts and just the different formatting within the dropbox. We keep on going. These are just more examples of those components that were updated. Another area that they've enhanced are the navigations impacting accept/decline financial aid awards, holds, maps, class search, and edit enrollment. They've updated not only the icons on the page, but they've made the icons or anything visual, like status symbols. They've differentiated reiterated those and made them keyboard and screen reader accessible as well. Moving along. Oh. Prior, all the navigations on the left side of the page were not accessible by the linked list functions within JAWS and NVDA. So if you wanted to pull up your quick links, it would only show the links that were in the menu item that was expanded. So let's say on the left side of the page, you were in the class information area of the menu. It would only show the five or six or so links that are under class information and wouldn't show the other leaks like dashboard, or the springboard, or schedule links that are outside of that category. So that has been addressed and fixed, which makes navigation so much better. We'll keep going through. I think these are just screenshots of the old. Yep. And so here's an example of where they've updated a dashboard schedule. This is an example of where they've updated the icons and the different keys for low vision users to be able to differentiate these easier. And they're also accessible through the screen reader as well. They've updated tab orders on pages to make the keyboard accessibility a lot better. As well as in prior versions, for example, if you were to go to class search to select a class, if your student configuration were set up for a specific way, you would be able to add that class to your shopping cart or to enroll in it. But if you did not have access to be able to sign up for the class, those buttons would just not be on the page at all. So now, they've made it to where the buttons are on the page, even though they're disabled. So that way, a student knows that there's possibly something wrong with their setup that is causing them not able to see a class or to add it to their shopping cart. Moving along, they've updated the grid markup and fixed some issues with sorting. In prior versions, if you were to click sort on a page that looked like it had sorting on a column, the sorting didn't work. So now, all the sorting features actually work. And the grid markup works well with the table functions on NVDA and JAWS as well. And that takes us to the end of the updates. Do we have any questions? CHRISTOPHER SORAN: I'm super excited. This is the CS 32 and HCX. This is some of the biggest amount of accessibility updates I've ever seen Oracle put out on the CS 32 side and then HighPoint. So their HighPoint, the HCX VPAT has this 24.2 version with full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA. And the only outstanding issue that. We know of is that it can be resolved with enhancement request 253. The Make a Payment Page is still in the classic. So it doesn't scale well on the phone. So we're going to be making that into a fluid page. And then because when you're in the HCX app and you go to make a payment, you get redirected to that page within PeopleSoft to complete the payment. So we know that's an issue, and I already got an enhancement request through and approved, and it's in the queue for development. So we'll let you know when that's done. But this is the most accessible version of HCX we've had to date, and I'm pretty excited about it. MONICA OLSSON: Yeah. Chris, I think this is thrilling. And the fact that HighPoint also partnered with some expert accessibility folks to give them some third party testing. Auditing is good for us. It means that they were doing their part to improve their product and not just relying on their customers to show them all the things. So that's really wonderful. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Josh has shown them a lot of things. MONICA OLSSON: Yeah. I was kind of trying to speak carefully, but I know. Josh shows them a lot of things. And it's sounding to me like overall, HCX is going to provide a much more usable and robust experience for our students. Now, moving forward, because of all of these changes and how compliant they are now with 2.1. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Yeah. It's going to be an even better experience. It can be easier to register, enroll for classes, the whole thing. JOSH GIHA: Yeah. And I feel a little bit more comfortable being able to say, when we're asked what is the most accessible experience so far, we can point them to HCX. MONICA OLSSON: For our students, yeah. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Yeah. MONICA OLSSON: I agree. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: And we had 55 accessibility fixes come in with CS 32. So that desktop side is still also a much better experience. So lots of stuff going in the right direction. JOSH GIHA: Yeah. We're definitely seeing a lot more focus and improvements on the student side of CS for Oracle. I think that's probably, even more than the other pillars, we're seeing the most out of CS. As far as improvements and communication as well, they sent us a lot more information as far as replication steps for all the bugs this time. This has just been-- MONICA OLSSON: That's great. JOSH GIHA: --night and day difference with this image than previous ones. MONICA OLSSON: Yeah. Because my impression from previous conversations and updates was that they were putting more focus on other pillars. I don't know if you'd say it quite like that, but over the CS pillar. JOSH GIHA: Yeah. I would agree with that, definitely. But yeah. I think this image in CS, they stepped out in front in a lot of ways. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Yeah, when we start an update, we take a look at all the list of the bug fixes that they have. And then we try and correlate that to show you what got updated here. And usually, we got to send a decently long list saying, hey, what was even changed with this one? There's no replication steps? What page did you even fix with this update? And with the CS 32 one, we've been asking them to add that information in, and they really did a great job on the CS one. We didn't have to ask. We send them a list. It was like they already had the stuff there. So yeah, all good stuff trending in the right way. So this is a very exciting updates. I'm very excited these are out. MONICA OLSSON: Yeah. Yeah. Me too. Me too. Thanks, Chris and Josh. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: Yeah. So that's everything today. Not super long but definitely exciting. Lots of fixes coming in. And if you have anything you want us to chat about, feel free to submit your questions to us or let us know. We'll get it on the topics for next time. MONICA OLSSON: Yep. And to those of you who maybe just joined in the last five or so minutes, I apologize you missed the bulk of our information. You can access this slide deck on our website. We do record these meetings. It does take us some time to send them off for professional video captioning and get them back up on our website. But in the near future, you should be able to also watch this recording as well. But if you're needing information ASAP-a-roo around what we discussed because people back at your campus are relying on you, I'd say review the slide deck because that tells you exactly what we discussed. And reach out to Chris or I if you have specific questions because I noticed there's just a few people that came in the last 5 minutes. Other than that, we will see you same time, same Zoom link next month. JOSH GIHA: And also, the bulk of the CS 32 updates were given in our last meeting. So if you wanted that one, you can catch up on the 50 or the 30 or so bugs on the student-facing side. So there's that too. MONICA OLSSON: Thanks, Josh. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: And I link to them on the slide. So if you're here on the CS 32 slide, there's the student side one and the staff side one. And it's all right there. MONICA OLSSON: Cool. Thanks, Chris. CHRISTOPHER SORAN: See you, everybody, next month. Thanks. MONICA OLSSON: All right. Bye, y'all.
