CHRISTOPHER SORAN: I'm going to get a recording started. Thanks for coming today. We appreciate your time. So I'll go ahead and get rolling our March edition of our ctcLink accessibility forum. We've got a couple topics today. All right. So we're going to talk about a couple of things that did get recently got fixed, and then some people tools stuff. So some changes coming. So these are items that I had at the back-end of the slides that were from some previous image updates we did a few months back. And I just wanted to highlight them before I took them off the back slides. Those are all the open ones. So on the Report Time page, if you're using NVDA, after you use the Previous button, the focus would shift onto the Calendar button, and then in that Edit box, where you select the date. It wasn't reading out the date correctly. Everything worked fine in JAWS. So that was the result for NVDA. Yeah. And then on the-- over in finance on the Travel Authorizations page, when you would go to attach your travel documents, the Attach button didn't have the proper label. So that's all fixed now, too. So that's nice. Yeah. So the main thing today is kind of the big change with the PeopleTools 8.61. So we're going to go live with this change on April 26. And so we'll have an accessibility image overview document available for you. There are some bug fixes here and there fixing different places where the focus goes and some labels and stuff. So there's some other little things. But this is the feature, the big feature, that's coming in. So instead of having to go into your settings, your profile, and then select-- from the dropdown to select to turn the screen reader mode on, or you have to know the keyboard shortcuts to bring up the page about keyboard shortcuts, which is hard to know, so now all that's accessible from item in the top menu. So it's in the top when you're on desktop. And if you're on your phone, in small form factor, it's on the bottom. So you can just click the little button, and you'll get some options that come up for keyboard shortcuts, accessibility help, and then enabling screen reader mode. And then once you've enabled screen reader mode, the Enable Screen Reader Mode option goes away because it's enabled, and it's turned on. You can still go to your profile to turn it off. But that's how that feature works. And then we found that it's on-- I think it's on most every Fluid page, but it doesn't show up on some of the classic pages. So you'll see it in most places around the system, but some places it won't be there. And then one thing that Oracle did deliver with it, we had to open a service request on, so they had broken images with in the accessibility help viewer text. And their solution to us was to-- we're supposed to tell our users to enable insecure content so that the insecure image could appear. And I was like, yeah, that's a security issue, so I'm going to say no to that one. Yeah, so we asked them to fix it. Yeah. We've asked for if we can get a POC, or Proof Of Concept, from them, they'll have a fix in a later PeopleTools update. But we wanted to get a fix in before we go live with it. But the good part is we can actually edit this ourselves. And so that's what I wanted to show today. Next out of that. So I'm going to screen share a different screen here. Give me just a second. All right. So you can access it here. So I'm in one of our pre-production environments where we kind do our development work. And then so you can just click here. And then I already have screen reader mode enabled, so the Enable Screen Reader Mode isn't there. So you can either select keyboard shortcuts or accessibility help. And then it brings you to this page here. And we're able to insert our own screenshot and add the alt text ourselves. So we can do some fixes on this as well. So we also updated the wording. So I'm going to show you in here, in another environment, where we haven't updated the wording. So they have-- not [INAUDIBLE] for me. Gotta wait for the demo for it to not work. There it is. All right. So yeah, we've asked for a fix for that. So they have some the wording here. They've got the welcome information here. There's also the screen reader mode that gives you some details, like a screen reader is an assistive technology that renders text and image content and speech. Yeah. So a screen reader reads the content on the screen is primarily used for people with vision impairments and learning disabilities. Examples on screen readers show JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and ChromeVox. Yeah. Screen reader mode, the pages are rendered away. It's optimal for screen reader software. It's not intended for use by others, such as sighted users and keyboard-only users. So let's tell you how to enable the screen reader mode. There's also here a page layout and screen reader mode letting you know that in screen reader mode, the pages are rendered in a different way that's more optimal for the screen reader. It's not meant to be used by folks that are sighted users, because things can look a little squished and funny. And then there also has this, about keyboard shortcuts, tells you how to use the skip to main content, and then the other keyboard shortcuts there. So we made some updates to some of the wording. Page main-- So we updated some of the wording here, and we can update this pretty easily as well. So if we was go into, let's say, this Welcome page here, so we can just make edits right in here. So we made some updates to the wording here. So in here we said the accessibility help topics are intended to assist users with disabilities, including motor and visual impairment, acquire information about the assistive technology features within the application. These topics address users who may or may not use assistive technologies and provide information on how to enable use of accessibility layout features in the application. So yeah, use the links there. Select a different accessibility help topic. If you're on a phone tablet, you have to expand the panel. One thing we noted was that when you are in your phone, these options are slid over in a little panel, and you got to expand it out because there's not a lot of room. If you add those, you would only be able to see anything on the page. So we tried to make the language a little more friendly, a little shorter. It's not reading through so much, but still getting all the information you need. And so if there's any changes you want to see to the language, happy to make changes. Let's see here. We can just click there and edit. But I wanted to show you how the new feature works, where you can pull up this information here. We also can add in-- so if we save this and we go back, we can also add in additional options here in this little left nav. You have the welcome, screen reader, page layout, and about. The keyboard shortcuts-- so we can add-- we can link out to our State Board Accessibly Help page here or make the phrasing a little more friendly. So any questions on the new feature or changes? Cool. Yeah. Let me get back to the slides. So yeah, once that goes live at the end of April and you find you don't like it phrased a certain way or you think things could be improved, please let me know. And we'll get those edits going. Pretty simple process to fix. It's nice they made it so easy. Yeah. And that's all the topics today. Pretty quick, today, the PeopleTools has been our main focus of late, getting that new version in, it's going to be a nice-- it's a nice features to the system. Yeah. So we got our Accessibility Help page and the image overviews documents. That's where we'll be posting all the rest of the features and bug fixes that are coming in around accessibility with the new PeopleTools version. Yeah. So same time, second Tuesday next April, we'd love to see you back here. Yeah. Any other thoughts or questions? That's all good. Yeah. Thank you, Christopher. Yeah. You can have rest of your hour back. Short and sweet, right? Short and sweet. Grab some lunch. All right. Y'all have a great day. Appreciate your time. All right. See you guys.
